- TAKE A DIFFERENT LOOK-

It has been 9 months now that I lived abroad and I've learnt a lot of things. Good and bad experiences, hard times, unforgettable moments, laughter's and tears. But the most important for me is that I've learnt to enjoy life again. My friends and the people with who I spent my time in New York and San Diego and everything I've been through gave me the inspiration to write again.
First of all this is not only about me this is about what I want to share with you, how to look different at things in life. Maybe it can help you, not literally but maybe it can change the way you think at the moment, like it changed mine.

It's so important to enjoy the things you do, whatever it is. Even just a coffee or a nap. You are alive so you are living a life but are you really LIVING your life? If you want to achieve something in life you have to do something for it, because these things will not solve themselves. This is what you can't change about life but almost everything else is in your own hands.

The things beyond our control

What if we had a time machine? Imagine! You could go back in time and maybe if you have regrets you could change it. A chance to do it over again, or maybe you can go back to the dazzling moments in your life, to the sad parts when you handled it wrong. Just a chance to do it all over when you need it.
But what if we had a mind-eraser. Some pills or I don't know what, maybe a drink or a magic word, when you drink or say it, you don't remember the parts in your life that you don't want to remember. I know I sound like a zany but It would be easy right? And imagine again what if we had the chance to know everything before we lived the moment. You know what's waiting for you. You know what's going to happen, you know everything. And what about a teleport? You could open the door and travel to wherever you wanted to. It would be crazy right?
Or maybe, if we had the chance to stop the time. Just to take a break. Just to breath again and push the ''play'' button back when we want. Because sometimes life hits us harder than we expect, doesn't it? Am I the only one? Or when we are in a difficult situation and we don't know what to choose, when you want both of the options, we have the chance to split up and live them both and when you're sure about one of your choices just delete the other one. It would be CRAZY if we had that opportunity, don't you think?
People always say I wish I could do this or I wish it was possible to do that. Always sulking about regrets, maybe's, what if's and a lot of more common things. I think the essence is we are lucky that we can't do all those things and we don't have this in our control even if it's sounds so great sometimes when you really need it. May you think I’m quirky  but seriously for me it's better without all those options. We only can learn if we fall down and get back up by ourselves. We can't be that greedy to want it to be so easy. I even think life would be very boring, if everything was easy to get. In the end we all know everything happens for a reason. I think regrets are a waste of time, just go on don't let your way slipping away. Even a bad situation can send you to an unexpected good direction, time or place. I know it’s hard to believe when you’re stuck in a bad time but in the end you can flaunt when you've made it.
A wrong choice is like a strict teacher, probably you first won’t like the teacher but in the end you will see he/she helped you to be better in something. Like a wrong choice, first you will regret it but in the end you will not make the same mistake again.

New concept: Come over 2 the dark side

The first time I went to Manhattan, the city gave me inspiration.
I got ideas for new concepts and short movies. Last weekend I went to Manhattan and searched for the right places to take the pictures that I had in mind and I found them. So here is my new concept about New York. This is probably the side you haven't seen that much before, because when you say New York the first thing that crosses the mind of most people is shopping, Time Sq, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building etc, but I didn't want to take the regular pictures.

My arrival in NYC at JFK

The 21th of September I left Belgium with my mom. When we arrived at JFK I was really shocked. The airport was very old and there was a lot of chaos and it wasn’t organized, there was no structure. I expected a modern airport because if you compare the airport in Brussels to JFK than Brussels airport is so much better and it isn’t even a big city like New York. But this wasn’t the point. There was one big line with so many people. We had to wait for so long. When it was my turn they asked me for a document that I did not have so they sent me to another place to complete it. After that I had to go back in line so I was very angry. I was tired and it was so crowded. The people were unfriendly. I didn’t expect it to be like that at all.

All about me

I always wanted to start a blog but I never had the time to do it. Now I'm in EF New York and we have the assignment to create a blog.
As most of you know my name is Merve and I'm 19 years old. I was born in Belgium but I have Turkish roots. I have 2 sisters and one brother they're all younger than me. I'm ''the big sister'' which also means a lot of responsibilities. I really love them and they're all special to me in their own way.

I just graduated from high school. I always said when I graduate, the first thing I want to do is study in New York and that's how it happened. Now I'm here in the USA living in the city that never sleeps.
